Toro elected Richard M. Olson president and chief operating officer on Aug. 19.

Olson, 51, will assume the role Sept. 1. He has worked for Toro for 29 years and will report to Michael J. Hoffman, chairman and CEO of the company. In his new role, Olson will oversee the company’s businesses and global operations.

Olson has held several leadership roles since joining the company in 1986, serving as commercial engineering program manager, managing director of Northern Manufacturing Operations and as director of plant operations at Toro’s facility in Shakopee, Minnesota.

“The rich company knowledge and broad experience that Rick has gained through his leadership of both our businesses and manufacturing operations provide him with the unique strategic perspective that will be instrumental in helping us drive toward the achievement of our Destination PRIME goals and beyond,” Hoffman said in a statement.

Olson most recently served as group vice president of international and micro-irrigation and distributor developer. He’s a graduate of Iowa State University, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in industrial technology, and also holds an MBA from the University of Minnesota.
