Kawasaki expands engine division’s U.S. distribution network

The engine division of Kawasaki Motors Corp. U.S.A., which moved its parts warehouse and delivery to UPS logistics service several years ago, is expanding that relationship this month with the addition of a full-service warehouse in Dallas.

The company is already using UPS warehouses in Hebron, Kentucky, and Mira Loma, California, and both of those will continue to serve Kawasaki Engine Division customers.

Adding the Dallas facility will shorten the time between dealer order and actual delivery.

“One of our major tasks is to constantly be aware of what tools we can use to strengthen our dealers’ bonds with their professional lawn-care customers,” said Rodger Howe, vice president at Kawasaki, “and the numbers from UPS tell a compelling story over the past several years.”

Howe says the addition of the Dallas location should reduce delivery times to Gulf Coast and central Midwest states by one to two days.

The new Dallas facility, which will encompass more than 25,000 square feet and stock over 5,000 units of merchandise, will serve the following states: Alabama, Arkansas, Colorado, Kansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Texas and Wyoming.

Kawasaki currently markets more than 40 general purpose engines, most of which are produced by Kawasaki Motors Manufacturing Corp. U.S.A. at its plant in Maryville, Missouri. The engine division is based in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
